Martin Plascencia

As a young boy growing up in Mexico and the United States, Martin was always drawn to beauty and fashion, allowing him to develop an artist’s eye at an early age. In 2007, Martin moved from Pasadena, California to San Francisco in order to pursue his passion for hairstyling. There, he trained with Vidal Sassoon and TONI&GUY. Within the last decade, Martin has become a haircutting specialist, and prides himself in the precision of his technique. In addition to being a natural and gregarious leader in the salon space, he continually strives for excellence and quality work, further honing his skills in cutting, blow-drying and up-styling. Martin is also experienced in bridal and fashion styling and editorial, having worked backstage for designers at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week including Zang Toi, Reem Acra, Lisa Perry and Band of Outsiders. He is inspired by art, music and fashion and translates his inspiration to his work through knowledge and education. Photographer Patrick Demarchelier is an inspiration to Martin because of his impeccable work and ability to translate a specific mood through imagery. Martin joined Moroccanoil in 2014. “Moroccanoil is a minimalist line that allows diversity in use with immediate results,” he says. “I believe hair care contributes to good styling, I am passionate about great quality hair that allows for fluidity and strength.”

“I love the idea of hand-crafting and sculpting on a fiber ‘canvas.’ There are absolutely no boundaries in the art of hairdressing.”
