“I LOVE SEEING THE ‘A-HA!’ MOMENT WHEN A TECHNIQUE OR IDEA CLICKS.”

Hairstyling is in Richelle McLaughlin’s DNA. “My grandmother was a hairdresser,” she recalls. “When I was a child I would sit, watch and listen to her and her clients for hours.” Drawn to the idea of connecting with clients on a personal level while helping them look and feel their best, she decided to launch her own career in the beauty industry.

Since then, Richelle has worked in a variety of roles throughout her 30-year career, most often as an educator or education manager. She began teaching as a color trainer for the Gene Juarez Salons & Spas in Seattle, Washington, which led to an opportunity to become a Prestige Education Manager for L’Oréal Professional. She was inspired to join the Moroccanoil Education team because of the brand’s passion for beauty, reputation for quality and community support.

Richelle thrives on the beauty industry’s endless opportunities for growth and variety. “There is always something new to try—whether it’s a new product, new technique or new look. My day is never boring.” As part of the Moroccanoil team, she is driven by a desire to help others achieve their dreams. “The best part of my role is seeing educators reach their goals and succeed.”

“A PERSON’S HAIRSTYLE IS INTERTWINED WITH THEIR IDENTITY, AND TO BE A PART OF THAT REQUIRES A SPECIAL TRUST THAT I LOVE EARNING FROM MY CLIENTS.”

Alaina Montgomery has always known she wanted to be a hairstylist. Around the age of four she started learning how to braid and style hair, and by elementary school she was cutting her friends’ hair. A graduate of the fine arts, Alaina has taken her love for doing hair and combined it with her artistic abilities to create styles for private clients, print and film.

“When I was little I would go to the salon with my mom and just study everything that the hairstylists were doing to everyone in the salon. It was one of my favorite places to go and I was enthralled with the whole process…I knew I wanted to do that too.” Alaina has now been a stylist for over a decade, and has worked on many photoshoots for companies such as Nordstrom, HauteLook, Nautica, BHLDN and more. She’s also styled hair for indie films, documentaries, commercials and music videos. Like Moroccanoil, at the heart of Alaina’s success lies inspiration. “I’m inspired by a need to be creative, by successful people and those who chase success. I’m a competitive person, and I never want to stop learning and bettering myself!” Alaina’s love for Moroccanoil made her want to be part of it. “Everything that I’ve ever tried from the brand has worked exactly as I needed it to for beautiful results. There is a Moroccanoil product for every type of hair out there, which makes my job as a stylist that much easier.”
